Before you subscribe to anyone
- Check the SEBI registration number on www.sebi.gov.in. A genuine Research Analyst registration begins with INH.
- Ask for the client agreement, the fee schedule and the risk disclosures before paying anything.
- Confirm the bank account belongs to the registered entity, not to an individual.
Do’s
- Deal only with SEBI-registered intermediaries.
- Pay by cheque, NEFT, IMPS or UPI into the entity's account and keep the receipt and invoice.
- Read every recommendation in full, including the stop-loss, before acting.
- Keep written records of all communications.
- Report suspicious behaviour to SEBI immediately.
Don’ts
- Don’t believe assured-return, “100% accuracy” or “loss recovery” claims — they are prohibited and are the clearest sign of fraud.
- Don’t transfer money to any personal account, wallet or cash.
- Don’t hand over your trading credentials, OTP or PIN to anyone.
- Don’t give a power of attorney to a Research Analyst — they cannot lawfully accept one.
- Don’t trade on borrowed money or with funds earmarked for essential needs.
- Don’t act on unsolicited messages, anonymous groups or social-media “sure shot” calls.
